Working in Partnership with Lewisham College
Background
The College required a supplier to provide and implement an online system that could facilitate the recruitment of high volumes of temporary staff while ensuring that safeguarding and compliance is continually observed.
Challenges
Lewisham is one of the largest Further Education Colleges in London and requires a high volume of sessional workers throughout the academic year. They have more than 30 different curriculum areas and specialist knowledge of each is required in order to effectively recruit to their individual needs. Lewisham is a grade one College and as such place great emphasis on overall quality as well as safeguarding and compliance
Solution
Firstly our implementation team carried out a discovery exercise to allow us to align the online recruitment system to Lewisham College’s internal invoicing and management information processes and desires. The timesheet authorisation process was developed in consultation with members of the senior management team. Once the implementation phase was completed, The Account Manager, who has over five years of further education recruitment experience, developed a delivery plan which included a schedule of line management meetings as well as three monthly service reviews to assess performance and quality. Part of the process included training the system users. During service reviews, detailed management information is assessed and actions agreed to maximise quality and performance. Furthermore, and in line with the College’s commitment to safeguarding and quality, we are setting up a system whereby teaching staff are independently observed.
Results
This is an ongoing contract where Morgan Hunt has recruited to over 200 positions since September 2007. We currently payroll approximately 60 temporary workers which combines to over 600 hours a week, most of these people were sourced by Morgan Hunt. These have been across a range of divisions, including academic, administration, finance, marketing, student services and facilities.
